Do you have a Cuisinart Pro Classic Food Processor that you use as a smoothie/drink blender?

Or, if you have this appliance, did you buy a separate blender, that's for just for mixing drinks/smoothies? Do you think this Cuisinart Food Processor would work just as well as a drink/smoothie/milkshake blender... or would this really be better used for mincing/chopping/shredding - that type of thing?

I already had a Cuisinart Food Processor that I've used for 20 something years. I had to replace the bowl recently, but it has held up really good. I use it about once every 4 or 5 weeks. I stopped making bread dough in it because it is so rough on my processor bowl.

When I recently bought the Cuisinart Blender, in the package deal, I also got a mini food processor. I use it for chopping up herbs.

As for the blender, I never, never put ice cubes in it. I do put frozen fruits in it to make smoothies. And I soften the Ice Cream a little before making the smoothie; by letting it sit out on the counter 15 minutes. I don't use it to crush up ice because I can put the ice cubes in a plastic baggie and smash the ice with a meat pounder; or my 8-inch black iron skillet. Using your blender to break up ice is very damaging to it and will burn it out soon. The blender will last much longer if you find another way to break up the ice. Yes, I know, the makers of the blender say that you can use the blender to break down the ice cubes, and yes you can, but the blender will wear out real quick. I always want to get my $$$-worth from any thing I buy, whether it's my car or a house or a blender. I know other people who bought a food processor at the same time I did... theirs broke down and wore out years ago, mine is still going, 'n going, 'n going... like the "energizer bunny." lol So, I'm sure my blender will be around for quite sometime too, since I take such good care of my small appliances.
