I found these smart substitutes and thought I would share with you

Smart Substitutes

Recipe call for Buttermilk? Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to a cup of milk and let it stand 10 minutes. Or add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to a cup of whole milk.

Chocolate Trick: When you haven't any unsweetened chocolate in the house, make 1 ounce by adding 1 tablespoon fat to 3 tablespoons cocoa.

Short of Bread Crumbs? Stretch what you've got by using your blender to grind up crackers, unsweetened breakfast cereal or potato chips. Cornmeal and wheat germ will also work in a pinch.

Missing an Egg: When your one egg shy for a recipe that calls for several, substitute one teaspoon of cornstarch.

To keep milk past it's expiration date add salt. A pinch of salt in a gallon will do it. The salt slows the rate of bacteria growth.

Brown sugar will not harden if stored in the freezer.

Add blue food coloring to chocolate frosting to get black
frosting


how can i start a raw diet?

Im a noob to all of this! but i would love to start to eat raw! Is there any websites i can look at or anything? advice?
My favorite food is spaghetti.. is there any recipies that are good? also, are dill pickles raw? I dont think i can live without them :( im trying to find all the info i can but it seems so complicated also! the only thing i have is a blender.. also what is master cleanse? basicly what do i need to get started?

I love salad also but picky with dressing, is there any way to make ranch? Thanks in advance!


Raspberry coulis question?

OK, so I couldn't find my tried-and-true raspberry coulis recipe (to be served with flourless chocolate cake for my husband's birthday). I improvised with confectioners' sugar, thawed frozen raspberries ad lemon juice, adjusting to taste. But I think I made a mistake by pureeing the sauce in a blender before straining it. I don't have any cheesecloth, so after pureeing it, I just used the fine-holed, cone-shaped strainer from my food mill. The puree looks and tastes good, but there are pieces of pureed raspberry seeds that got through the strainer. In my place, would you still use it as is? I suppose I'd be willing to strain it again, but...no cheesecloth. What would you do in my place? Thanks.


How do I make superfine sugar?

How long do I pulse regular, granulated sugar in a blender to make it in to superfine or castor sugar? I don't want to make it in to powdered sugar. Can I do this in a food processor? How long would I pulse it in the food processor?


Would fast-food taste okay in a blender?

Hello. I recently got my molars pulled out, and stitched up. I'm only allowed to eat liquid foods for a week. I've been eating mashed potatoes, butter, nutritional smoothies, pudding, and jello. I was eying my blender, and hungering for some McDonalds Angus Delux or Arby's Roast Burger, and I was wondering if it would still taste the same if I blended it.

Would this taste alright? Would it even taste any different? I want to blend all of my favorite meals. Suggestions of any kind will be accepted, most helpful overall will get voted best. :)


Lamb Kebab Sauces help?

I regularly get a grilled lamb kebab from a turkish fast food place in ireland and am wondering about the sauces could anyone explain what they might be ??

A red slightly watery sauce that looks like chillies after been through a blender (think there is chillie seeds still in it)

A white sauce ,like sour cream, slightly watery

When the two of them mix it is lovely.The lamb is marinated in a kind of brown/orange colour any ideas? I would ask the man behind the counter but i dont think he be interested in telling me
